The Orchestra and Voices of the East Indies present The Magnificent Season a program of festive music from the Baroque and a premiere by one of Singapore’s leading young composers, in the Chamber in the Arts House at Old Parliament House on Sunday, 23rd December 2012 at 8:15 p.m. Under the direction of Ng Tian Hui, Orchestra Director at Mount Holyoke College, the performance will contrast Johann Sebastian Bach’s scintillating Magnificat with the rarely performed Magnificat by the Bohemian Jan Dismas Zelenka with a delightful new premiere by multiple award winning composer Emily Koh.

The ensemble will be joined by a stellar cast of voices including Wendy Woon, described by the American Guild of Organists as a singer of “elegance and poise”, Melvin Tan, recently featured in Mark Chan’s opera the Flight of the Jade Bird, the ever compelling Yap Shing Min with new talent Ong Shu Chen.
