Toh Xue Qian is fresh out of National Service and has just started his tertiary studies, but he was recently appointed the new President of the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM), a group of passionate volunteer musicians dedicated to music-making and giving back to society. He shared with SG-MUSIC.NET about how he came to join the OMM, his new responsibilities as its President, and OMM's upcoming plans for its 5th anniversary in 2013.
Xue Qian, you were recently appointed as the new President of the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM). Tell us more about how you came to be involved with the OMM, first as a volunteer musician then as a member of the executive committee.

7 projects by local Voluntary Welfare Organisations and charity homes have been selected as inaugural recipients of the Arts Opportunity Fund (AOF) following an open call for applications in April 2012.
Recognising that participation and engagement in the arts can bring about positive and transformative benefits, the AOF was created to help realise and fulfil the artistic aspirations and interests of children and youths from charity homes and Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), and can be tapped on to fund arts-related projects involving artists, arts facilitators and trainers for these children and youth.
